ABOUT US

This exhibition was conceived, designed, and curated by the Semester 2 2023 cohort of RMIT Master of Communication Design students.

Through the exploration of the interdependency of humanity and the environment we live in, the personal response of the creator to climate change brings forth the ever-fluid narrative we now know we impact as designers, as people, and as individuals. We visualise the past, display the present, and manifest the future of our planet. History informs our practice just as much as our own imaginations do, and we ask; what has been our role in the larger context of climate change then, now, and later?

In a ‘post-pandemic world, we struggle to give empathy and emotion as freely as before. As the imagined dystopia becomes less speculative and more likely, our own response as designers remains one of resilience. It may be satirical, exhausted, angry, and surreal in its execution, but it is resilient nonetheless. We try to reach out, displaying our own flayed-out emotions about the state of our environment to each other and to the world. Asking the question, carefully casual, as if meeting a friend from long ago:

Am I late?
